After Hours
Please call reception for all after hours care.

Each request is assessed by your doctor who will approve or decline the request on clinical grounds.
If the request is declined, you will be advised to make an appointment in-person with your doctor.
Cancellation Policy
Patients who fail to attend an appointment with their doctor or provide less than 2 hours’ notice to cancel their appointment may be charged a fee. This fee will be at the discretion of the doctor and could potentially be the full cost of the consultation missed. This fee is not claimable through Medicare and must be paid in full before patients can re-book with their doctor.
Patients booked in for a Mirena who fail to attend or provide less than 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule will be charged a fee of $120. This fee is not claimable through Medicare and must be paid in full before patients can re-book the procedure.
Test Results
Patients should contact their doctor or reception by phone for test results. Please phone reception after 10am Monday to Friday.
If you would like to discuss results, please make an appointment with your doctor.
Privacy
It is the policy of Surrey Hills Medical Centre to maintain the security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. We abide by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principals (APPs) and the Victorian Health Records Act (2001). Patient Feedback
Surrey Hills Medical Centre and the doctors and other healthcare providers welcome your views, particularly on how we can improve our services. Please complete our patient feedback form and place it in the suggestion box; which is located in the waiting room.
If you have a complaint please discuss it with your Doctor or the Practice Manager. If you feel your complaint is not resolved you are entitled to register a complaint with the Health Services Commissioner via their website.
Communication/Telephone and Email
Your doctor may be contacted during normal opening hours. If the doctor is with a patient, our highly trained reception or nursing staff will take a message, and advise you when it would be likely that your doctor will answer your query. In an emergency your call will always be put through to a nurse or GP.
Our email reception@shmc.com.au is not monitored 24 hours a day and is not intended for communicating medical advice. If you require emergency medical treatment, please call 000.
